Nicotine Fiend

Thanks for the advice, folks. The sense of the feedback I'm getting is that I should prioritize prose over comic strips, and I find that very helpful and even a little validiting.

SO I WENT AHEAD AND DREW THAT COMIC ANYWAY

(clickmic for comic.)

I must admit that this one was a lot of fun.

So I have some notes for a prose piece and sketches for a new comic sitting on my desk. Guess I'll start fiddling with them both and see which captures my interest, although I'm still feeling a bias towards writing.

  1. Um... maybe I should retract my advice. That was an incredible comic.

  2. Also, I read this some time ago and found it the other day among all the crap that's accumulated under my bed. I thought, as the author of THOSE articles, you might have some opinion of it. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry once i'd finished:

    1. Oof. Yeah, that's been on my radar, but I never got around to reading it.

Projecting philosophy onto video games (or Winnie the Pooh) is all the rage these days, and as far as I can tell a lot of it is apophenic masturbation. Do these folks do any better?

(Though if it succeeds as a comprehensive introduction to philosophy, why should we complain?)

    2. I wouldn't say it's a very stimulating read for someone even vaguely knowledgeable about Philosophy because a lot of the conclusions drawn are startlingly obvious. A lot of the contributors also clearly have no idea about FF, and have just been handed the information to elaborate on - for example Squall is noted as the protagonist of VII in one of the articles. - Still, there is something quite fun and endearing about learning Philosophy with Final Fantasy - kinda like paint by numbers with Link and Ganandorf (which is also a book i'd definitely buy had it ever existed).
