I haven't read it, but perhaps I'll pick it up next. And as far as Prus goes, I had never even heard of him, but I read a synopsis of Pharaoh and it sounds up my alley. There's a Hungarian novel called Metropole that I loved that had the same fate befall it...it's completely unknown, here in the US at least. Ivan T.
